We’re excited for the first day of the 2022-23 school year on Monday, Aug 29th! Until then check out our evolving list of back-to-school FAQs and mark your calendar for our annual School Year’s Eve event on Thursday, Aug 25th from 5-6:30pm at Cabrillo.
How do I find out about school holidays or other events?
It’s important to read Mrs. Wilberg’s weekly school newsletter–emailed on Thursdays–during the school year. Not only does the newsletter include upcoming dates and important school information, but it’s a great place to get fun recaps, photos, and learning highlights from the week.
Click here for Wiseburn Unified School District’s academic calendar, which includes school holidays and early release days.
If you like important dates to appear on the calendar for you, we recommend subscribing to the PTA calendar! School holidays, early release days, and most school and PTA events for 2022-23 are already marked on this calendar and we do our best to keep it up-to-date during the school year so that our busy Cabrillo families can stay on track!
What is School Year’s Eve?
Our annual School Year’s Eve event will be held Thursday, August 25th from 5-6:30pm at Cabrillo. For returning families, it’s an opportunity to reconnect with school. For new families, it’s a chance to become better acquainted.
- Find out your student’s classroom placement
- Go on a scavenger hunt to familiarize yourself with campus
- Meet school administrators
- Connect with the PTA over ice cream
- Pick up Cub Store pre-orders
- Learn about after-school enrichment programs
- Take a special “first day of school” picture with Buddy
Where can I buy a school shirt or PTA membership?
The Cub Store is your one-stop shop for spirit wear, PTA memberships, and PTA event tickets during the school year.
Back to School orders placed before 10am on Thursday 8/25 will be available for pickup at the PTA table during School Year’s Eve. Orders placed after this cutoff or not picked up during School Year’s Eve will be delivered to your student’s classroom within 2-3 days.
Will the free lunch program continue?
Yes, and it will be expanded to include free breakfast. Beginning in school year 2022-23, California will become the first state to implement a statewide Universal Meals Program, which means that Cabrillo will provide a nutritiously adequate breakfast and lunch every school day to all students requesting a meal, regardless of their free or reduced-price meal eligibility.
School breakfast and lunch menus may be found at: https://wiseburn.nutrislice.com.
Is there a school supplies list?
Cabrillo will provide students with all necessary supplies for learning. However, if you would like to support your student’s class by donating additional supplies or to find out what supplies you may want to have handy at home, please click below.
We also recommend keeping a change of clothes in your student’s backpack!
When will I find out my student’s teacher?
Class rosters are posted on Thursday, Aug 25th at School Year’s Eve. After this time, families may contact the office for their student’s class placement.

What if I need before or after school care?
Right at School (RAS) provides on-campus before and after school care and is accepting fall registrations.
There are several home daycare providers who offer drop off/pick up services and off-campus care in the neighborhood as well.
What is the school day schedule?
Teachers and administrators have worked hard over the summer to fine tune the details of our new school schedule, which incorporates daily breakfast (optional) and more instructional minutes than our previous schedule.
